TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

The most important thing to me as a teacher is providing a positive, safe environment for my students to unlock the potential they already have within themselves. I meet every student where they are at and give them the tools to achieve their goals. Storytelling and healthy, sustainable technique are at the forefront of all my work. I have a background in classical vocal technique and extensive training in musical theatre and acting. As a self proclaimed nerd, I have a wide breadth of knowledge of the musical theatre canon and repertoire. I don't believe in being an "expert", I view my students as equals that can learn as much from me as I can learn from them.

I have been teaching private voice lessons for over a year and am a teaching artist with Inside Broadway, a nonprofit organization that brings Broadway to students in NYC public schools.

“I highly recommend vocal training with Hannah Kulawiak to singers at all levels, but especially to actors looking to fortify their vocal skills. Hannah is a natural teacher and leads with both empathy and knowledge of her craft. A versatile and skillful musician and actor herself, Hannah masterfully coaches her students through a wide range of genres and styles. I admire that Hannah makes space for her students to show up as they are, transforming each lesson into a fun, uplifting experience. Hannah’s unique combination of talent, experience, and demeanor sets her apart from other teaching artists. I would gladly recommend her to vocalists seeking to expand their abilities and grow into their power as performers."
